As Dynamics GP moves toward its 2029 end-of-support deadline, WennSoft is shifting its field service and construction customers to the cloud and giving Partners a fresh services play in the process.
The company grew out of Wenninger Mechanical, spun off as its own software business in 1995, and today operates in a market where legacy stability is no longer enough. Dynamics GP support will end on Dec. 31, 2029, which turns cloud planning from a long-range conversation into an immediate business issue.
“2025 has been a year of preparing for cloud migrations and having the right base feature set that customers can move to,” WennSoft CEO Richard Haus told PartnerTalks.
Why the WennSoft cloud migration matters now
The broader market is moving in the same direction. Gartner estimates that worldwide end-user spending on public cloud services hit $723.4 billion in 2025, up from $595.7 billion in 2024. It also expects 90% of organizations to adopt a hybrid cloud approach through 2027. Meanwhile, IDC forecasts that digital transformation spending will reach nearly $4 trillion by 2027.
For WennSoft, the shift is especially important because its customers do not operate in generic back-office environments. They manage job costing, partial project completion, billing complexity and field technicians who need real-time data.
“Cloud and AI were probably the two biggest themes of 2025 for us,” Haus said. The cloud is the new delivery model, but customers also expect AI layered on top of it.
In true Frontier Partner fashion, Haus said WennSoft is doing internal AI work, too.
The organization uses Azure AI Foundry to triage incoming tickets by leveraging support case history and product documentation, saving hours and automatically reducing escalations. Haus says the company is using the lessons it’s learning in its own use cases to develop AI solutions for the marketplace.
That lands at a moment when McKinsey reports that 92% of companies plan to increase AI investments over the next three years, even though only 1% consider themselves mature in deployment.
The WennSoft cloud migration opens the door to assessment work, phased migration planning, process redesign, testing, training, and AI readiness for Partners. In other words, the move to the cloud is not simply about leaving GP behind. It is about creating a more modern, more durable revenue motion around customers that already need to move.
